Project Description
Situation
As a result of the necessary pavement rehabilitation, the partly narrow Forchstrasse was widened on both sides of the road to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. The road widening was approx. 0.60 m on both sides, resulting in a pavement joint which is located exactly under the wheel loads. In order to prevent the crack penetration of the joint, the construction joint was reinforced with S&P Glasphalt® G. In addition, all other existing cracks and joints in the base course were also reinforced with S&P Glasphalt® G. To prevent debonding caused by passing vehicles, the asphalt grid was covered manually with an asphalt layer. The work was carried out in 2 stages of approx. 1,200 metres of road length. S&P Glasphalt® G was paved with 8 cm binder course, followed by a 4 cm jointless surface course.
