Improvement of access to Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport
This project aimed to reinforce the road providing access to Sá Carneiro Airport. The intervention sought to improve the structural capacity and durability of the pavement, ensuring suitable conditions for users.
Project Description
Situation
The existing road showed signs of deterioration, namely disintegration of the wearing course, cracking, rutting in the wheel paths, and loss of surface regularity, caused by traffic and the insufficient structural capacity of the pavement. This situation compromised user safety and comfort.
Solution
The implemented solution consisted of milling the existing pavement, followed by structural reinforcement through the installation of a carbon fibre reinforcement grid and a new asphalt layer. This intervention significantly increased load-bearing capacity, reduced maintenance costs, and ensured greater durability of the road, directly contributing to improved efficiency and user safety.
