Santurtzi Sports Hall
Due to a change in the roofing materials, providing improved thermal insulation, together with the addition of solar panels, it was necessary to reinforce the timber roof structure of the sports hall, which has spans of up to 40 m. The system selected was the S&P NSM (Near Surface Mounted) system using S&P C‑Laminate SM laminates.

Project Description
Situation
Structural strengthening was needed due to a change of roof covering and the addition of solar panels.
Problem
Increase in roof loads associated with long timber beam spans.
Solution
The adopted solution consisted of reinforcing the laminated timber beams of the roof structure using two Cut‑in laminates of the S&P C‑Laminate SM 15/2.5 type, as this provided an effective, lightweight and minimally invasive strengthening solution, with rapid installation and without altering the appearance of the timber.
