Situation

Farum swimming pool was built in 1979 and later expanded in 2001. The original part was built with a corten steel roof and was poorly insulated. To improve energy consumption, it was decided to remove the existing roof and replace it with a new and contemporary insulated roof construction, as well as the installation of solar panels. The new roof structure results in a smaller additional load but at the same time, new legal requirements for load-bearing capacity verification of the load-bearing concrete decks had to be be taken into account.

Solution

The solution was to bond carbon fibre laminates (S&P C-Laminate) to the underside of the existing concrete supports. As the installation height is minimal (approx. 2-3mm), the solution is aesthetically pleasing after a paint treatment and hardly visible on the concrete girders.  Watch the project video here.
