22 students of architecture and civil engineering built two concrete canoes at the Jade University in Oldenburg. During the planning process, the students became aware of the carbon reinforcement meshes from S&P and asked the company if it would like to participate in the project with a material contribution. For S&P Clever Reinforcement GmbH, it was of course no problem to provide the material for a project that promotes young talent and the spirit of development deserves appropriate support.
A short time later, a roll with several square metres of S&P ARMO-mesh was on its way to Oldenburg. Due to the high strength and low weight of carbon fibres, S&P ARMO-mesh is ideal for applications where every gram counts and at the same time low layer thicknesses are required.
How the concrete canoes reinforced with S&P ARMO-mesh prove themselves will be shown on 10 and 11 June on the Beetzsee in Brandenburg: Then 77 teams from numerous countries will compete in a regatta with their 45 racing canoes made of concrete. Of course, S&P will continue to report on the project and the regatta. In the meantime, it is worth taking a look at the students' experience report (in German).
