S&P Asphalt reinforcement
Fibre reinforcement grids for asphalt surfaces
The Sul e Sueste River Station, inaugurated on 28 May 1932, closed in 2011 due to structural problems and general neglect, and reopened on 1 May 2021, after being rehabilitated in order to guarantee its functionality as a maritime-tourist fluvial terminal.
From a general and comprehensive structural analysis carried out by the design office A2P, with solutions adopted for the different pathologies of the building, such as the strengthening of beams with increased cross section by concrete encasement, a solution was adopted for the strengthening of central columns by carbon fibre encasement. In this case, it was found, in general, that the failure of the columns was due to inefficient column lashing. Thus, it was decided to reinforce the columns with carbon fibre sheets.
Quick to install, easy to install, efficient reinforcement and little intrusion allowing the original cross-section to be maintained.
