Reinforcement of bridge piers - Pont de Brotonne - Caudebec en Caux, France

As part of a public contract to strengthen the Pont de Brotonne, S&P acted as supplier of the reinforcement system.

Topic
Reinforcement of bridge piers
Object
Pont de Brotonne
City
Caudebec en Caux
State
Département de la Seine Maritime
Country
France
Date
2014
Duration
3 Months

Situation

The purpose of the reinforcement was to overcome a lack of reinforcement resulting in vertical cracks of 2 piles of 50 m height. In partnership with the application teams, S&P sought to improve quality and optimise exposure time. S&P provided expertise on the implementation techniques of its FRP S&P system.

Solution

The aim of the S&P solution is to ensure stability of the quality, a very fast installation, but also stability on the S&P Resin 55 glue consumptions. This solution was only possible with the characteristics of the S&P Resin 55: very long pot life, low heat sensitivity and high wetting power; a thicker or faster epoxy glue would not have allowed this type of laying. No modification of the external geometry of the piers, no risk of corrosion, ease and speed of implementation.

Material

18 000 ml of S&P C-Sheet 240, 6000 kg of S&P Resin 55
